The FBI has been warning the general public that copper thieves are “threatening US crucial infrastructure” since 2008.
A metropolis councilman instructed the Los Angeles Instances that about $500,000 of discretionary funds have already been used to repair lighting hit by copper thefts.

The bridge is greater than a half mile lengthy and connects the town’s Arts District to Whittier Boulevard and the historic Eastside.
Los Angeles has been hit with a spate of copper thefts over time which have affected infrastructure, together with delaying Metro rail vehicles. The town has about 1,200 open instances of suspected wire thefts, and the broken infrastructure has not but been repaired, the Los Angeles Instances reported.
Authorities are nonetheless assessing the injury.
